Lightning Web Browser App Reviews

Extremely fast, but needs polishing

This is an extremely fast web-browsing experience. However, to get straight to the point, its interface is quite outdated (appearance-wise), and judging by its looks, I think this app shouldnt have a charge. But, for some this wont matter, as the speed is pretty much unrivaled.

Fast. So fast.

True to its name, Lightning is the fastest browser Ive ever used. Period. On the other hand, its very minimal. Lightning strives to have just enough basic features to make it lightweight without being unusable; it has support for all flash/shockwave/java plugins, history, tabs, and bookmarks, but dont expect very many bells and whistles. So depending on your feature needs, it can be an advantage or a disadvantage. Best for light browsing for impatient people, like me ^^. The update is nice, if not very pretty. One annoying thing is that the application is still called Turboweb in the finder, but the name in the menubar when open is Lightning. Overall, its a fast, stable browser that strikes a good balance between speed and essential features. Great for those "I just want to mapquest this adress and get on with my life already I dont want to have to wait for safaris top sites to load" moments.

True to its name

True to its name, this browser is lightning fast. (...unless you have a really slow internet connection…) It is very simplistic, with just enough to get by with, which is nice for a change. It seems as if browsers are trying to do everything at once, but not this one. Although it could use a facelift, overall I thoroughly like it. Congrats to the developers for thier hard work and great product. EDIT: Thanks for the tip on how to get rid of the mismatch error! It works perfectly now :) I love how its so fast and simple, but I can not download the update (v.1.4.3) as it downloads almost all of the way, and then starts over again!! after about five times of doing this, it comes up with an error message "Hash mismatch" Its very infuriating! Please fix as soon as possible! Thanks a ton

On My Dock

I keep it on the dock for quick googling. But I was happy with the name Turboweb, and now the icon doesnt really reflect the name. (just add a big yellow lightning in the middle.)

Update Issues

The brewser works well however the new update will not install complete an install on any of my 3 Macs. One being portable being tried thru a variety of internet connections.

Great App, needs a bit of polishing round 2

This app has definitely been improved during the last several releases. It now has key shortcuts wich help migration from safari immensely. Also, the "pretend to be chrome" function helps compatibility with websites (though "pretend to be firefox or internet explorer" would be helpful as well). Overall, this is a speedy little browser that I like, in many ways, better than safari, and leaps above firefox or chrome (generally because it was made for mac and is seamless with it.) My only qualm is, though it is generally stable, there are a few quirks that need to be polished (like the odd tab bar, some crashes, etc.) I say, use it! :D

시피유 사용률이 너무 높아집니다.

맥북 에어에서 구동 중 시피유 사용률이 극도로 상승하면서 소음이 발생합니다. 어쩔 수 없이 지울 수 밖에 없었습니다. Its very fast and comfortable, but the usage rate of cpu when turn on this browser goes up to 40~50% on my 2011 MBA 13". It creates a lot of noise also.

needs work...

here is what it needs: -a close tab button. it is annoying to have to hit cmd-W every time -a fullscreen mode, to go with lion -I like the drag tab to bookmars bar feature, but it doesnt sync with the other bookmarks. -also, there are two buttons that open a "turbo web bookmarks" page, but one opens in lightning and the other opens in my default browser. -whenever I switch my search engine, the browser auto-navigates to that engines page (and even when chose the same engine). this needs to be fixed other than this, Its pretty good, works fast, and is a good speed substitute for a mainstream browser like chrome or safari

please explain/fix

Why cant I download anything. I try to download firefox, just because my current version of it wont work. But when I try to download it only saves it, never downloads. Please help!

Nice fast browser, force quits too easily

Ive used this browser for a year now, and I like the speed, but its not meant for tabbed browsing, and it force quits on my newer mac laptop more often than not - even after the updates. Its fast though, very lightweight, and great for single tab surfing. Its not meant for anything other than speed, but its decent.

As fast as promised

A solid and very fast browser. Not as many features around bookmarks as Id like, but the speed at which it loads indispensables (for me) like Google Calendar and gmail makes up for it -- I find myself using it for just about everything except web development -- Id happily use it for that too if there were even rudementary developer tools like a JavaScript console. Very pleased with Lightning and highly recommend it.

Lightning is now TurboWeb?

FYI - Lightning now calls itself (its *application* name) TurboWeb, although, when it runs, it still identifies itself as Lightning. This inititally caused me no end of confusion trying to figure out how "Lightning" (now aka, TurboWeb) was to be updated.) The program itself is indeed quick and has a very low memory/resource footprint.

updates

SOme of the bugs are gone - still SLOW on LOAD It wont open some links within mail programs ie gmail, and has trouble with some other intext links as well - handles google searches normal. The version Im using is a lot slower than the previous version, but still extremely quick to load and use. THIS is NOT stable, its probably should be labeles APLHA. I did pull this up the other day for a quick search - because no other browser would load - IT loaded however had to close everything and reboot because the browser wont load certain links within pages or emails.

Fast Web browser

Slow copy/paste, slow bringing up websites, no simple way to bring over previous used bookmarks, is there delete bookmarks.

bad

bad just bad. not to mention its based off an open-source example program! ROFL

Great lightweight browser

Exactly as represented, a super fast browser. Love it!

Great Browser

If you like Mozilla on the PC you’ll like this browser on the MAC. No bells and whistle and works as advertised.

Horrible

75 % of the pages that I zoom in on either shoot all the way to the left or to the right. I log onto Facebook and the same thing when I use zoom, all the way to the left or right but, it stays small either way. When i go to click on the home page it keeps me on the FB search engine. I know it wasn’t breaking the bank when I purchased this but, this is absolutely horrible. You would think they would at least have a zoom level saver so you wouldn’t have to use it on every page. Bottom line, this product stinks and I requested a refund.

Wow

I was having some unknown trouble opening Safari on my MacBook pro. I downloaded this and it opened nearly instantly. VERY similar to Firefox as another reviewed said. Simple and straight forward, simple toolbar outline. Fantastic and fast browser!
